SpawGlass is a commercial and civil contractor located in Texas that offers comprehensive construction services covering every stage in the lifespan of a facility. This encompasses initial advisory and consulting stages to post-occupancy, along with ongoing facilities maintenance and renovations.
SpawGlass had already added Procore to their arsenal of tech solutions when they were referred to GoFormz as a complementary solution. SpawGlass began leveraging the GoFormz and Procore integration for a variety of safety documentation procedures, beginning with their Good Catch Near Miss form.
“We identify thousands of Good Catch Near Misses a year,” explained Lori Ingle, Corporate Safety Manager for SpawGlass. “We used to rely on pen and paper, which made managing that data a nightmare.”
While Procore helped to optimize this process, there was a missing piece in the SpawGlass digital workflow. “We needed to further simplify our Good Catch Near Miss processes in the field,” explained David Gutierrez, Operations Applications Manager for SpawGlass. “Needing an email to access the Procore mobile app was a frequent obstacle for our craft professionals and subcontractors, so when we came across GoFormz, it helped us remove that barrier and route form submissions directly into Procore.”
The GoFormz and Procore integration rapidly resolved SpawGlass’ manual obstacles. “Now GoFormz feeds that data into our safety software,” explained Ingle. “The integration makes it really simple for our workers. All they have to do is scan a QR code and submit the form.”
From there, SpawGlass utilized the GoFormz and Procore integration to optimize their other critical safety processes. “We expanded our use case to our JSA forms,” Gutierrez explained. “What I really love about this was we were able to build out automation that helped us fill out our daily log in Procore. This was a massive timesaver for us!” Utilizing the integration, forms are now automatically pre-filled with data and seamlessly uploaded back into their database.
“All of our forms are feeding into our Procore analytics dashboard,” Gutierrez continued, “What’s nice about the forms is that they will prefill all the fields that we need to fill out in our dashboards automatically.” In addition, the SpawGlass team uses operator checklists. “This is a process we have to do every day when inspecting equipment, so this also feeds into our Procore integration,” noted Gutierrez.
All of the SpawGlass form collection leverages QR codes. “It’s great because even our subcontractors on site can pull up a form on their preferred device,” explained Ingle. The utilization of QR codes to access mobile forms has been pivotal in streamlining and enhancing SpawGlass efficiency, providing a quick and convenient way for users to effortlessly retrieve and interact with essential information on their mobile devices.
Meanwhile, collecting form data has been made even easier with the Speech-To-Text feature. “I love the voice-to-text feature that works with all fields, and the flexibility of using it in both English and Spanish is especially valuable for our Spanish-speaking workers,” Ingle continued. Speech-to-Text allows users to bypass the task of typing extensive descriptions by effortlessly dictating their text directly to their phone, streamlining the form-filling process.
SpawGlass pays close attention to efficiency savings. “Simply implementing GoFormz into our JSA process saved us two and a half hours a week on one project,” noted Gutierrez. “While another project recorded an hour and forty minutes in weekly savings.” These efficiencies result from the simplicity of mobile forms and digital data collection. “We don’t have to sit down and teach a subcontractor how to fill out a JSA. They can simply scan it and then go to work and fill out their work as they go,” explained Gutierrez. “We saw a 60% increase in JSA submissions all within 30 days of implementing GoFormz. It’s making our field teams’ jobs easier. It’s always so satisfying when you get some time back in the day to manage other important tasks.”
The SpawGlass team is eager to expand their digital processes. “We get requests all the time to add more processes to our QR process,” explained Gutierrez. “We’ve received some around our hot work permits and really anything we do every day – our workers want to continue to add more processes.” The team is consistently assessing time-saving measures and exploring additional changes to enhance the advantages for their field teams.
